How we pick what to recommend

• Nobody buys a verdict. Brands cannot pay to be included in an article, moved up a list, or reviewed more kindly. There are no sponsored rankings here.
• We say what we have and have not tried. Some articles come from hands-on use; others are research roundups built from specs, documentation, published reviews and user reports. When we have not tested something ourselves, the article says so instead of pretending.
• Price and trade-offs up front. A recommendation without a "but" is an ad. We list the downsides, the cheaper alternative and the situations where you should skip the thing entirely.
• No invented numbers. If we quote a spec, a price or a figure, it comes from somewhere checkable. Prices move, so treat any price we mention as a snapshot and check it before you buy.

This site is free to read and is paid for by advertising. When we get it wrong

We will, sometimes. Products get updated, software changes overnight and prices wander. If you spot an error or something that has gone out of date, tell us and we will check it and fix the article. Real corrections beat quiet edits.
